Week 7 - Finals : Exams or IPL

Week 7!

This Monday wasn’t just any Monday, it was my official entry into the new year. I know nothing really changes overnight, but there’s always something that feels different the day after your birthday.

That little nostalgic moment didn’t last long though, because the week had a packed agenda: DOMD (Operations) final on Tuesday, FAM (Economics) final on Thursday, and the IPL final also on Tuesday happening right here in Ahmedabad, with RCB having qualified! The stars couldn’t have aligned better, RCB making it to the finals in the 18th season, the match in Ahmedabad, and me being in Ahmedabad.

Of course, no final exam (or the tiny detail of not having a ticket) was going to stop me from going to the match especially with such a strong chance of finally seeing Virat lift the IPL trophy after 18 long years.

So, after surviving the mind-bending DOMD final (where we rode the elevator up and down Burj Khalifa ykyk), another RCB fanatic and I rushed to Narendra Modi Stadium. The mission? Find a scalper who could sense the desperation of true fans.

And yes! we found one. Judging by the price he quoted, I’m convinced he’s never studied economics or has no clue what a perfectly inelastic market means.

But the extra money we paid for the tickets, the precious time we could’ve used for FAM prep, and the complete loss of voice from cheering, all of it was worth it. We witnessed history unfold right before our eyes. We saw RCB finally lift that golden trophy after 18 years. We saw Virat let his emotions flow after that final ball. Honestly, no words can describe the feeling.

Had I not tried to be part of that moment, I’d never have forgiven myself.

The next day was completely dedicated to making up for lost study time. With no sleep at all, I gave my first-ever exam at IIM-A running purely on adrenaline. Given how haphazard my schedule is here, I’m sure it won’t be the last time either.

While the week had no more exams, there wasn’t much relief, the upcoming week has 5 final exams spread across just 3 days. The idea of two exams in a single day is terrifying, but it also means the end of Term 1 is near, along with the long-awaited term break!

Amidst all this madness, we got a glimpse of classic B-School vibes this weekend - our profile photoshoot. The entire batch suited up in formal attire for that one perfect click. The energy on campus over those two days was just something else.
